On my website, I would also like to give some insights into the jam sessions that have particularly shaped me on my journey.
At the beginning, it was mainly the atmosphere that captivated me – that unique vibe in jazz clubs like the Vogler in Munich, the Mautner Schloss in Burghausen, the Unterfahrt in Munich, the Jazzclub Augsburg, or the Leeren Beutel in Regensburg. At first, I just sat there and listened, absorbed, and cheered along. And at some point, the moment came that every young musician works towards: the chance to not only practice what I've learned but to play on stage with real professionals.
Admittedly – at my first performance at the Vogler, I was still quite a bit too overconfident. I had prepared exactly one song, in exactly one key. More wasn't session-ready at that time. But the beauty of jazz and these sessions is exactly that: The other musicians just went along with it, took me along, and made the best of it. It was in such moments that I learned what it’s really about – listening, reacting, and playing together.
I still found a few pictures from that memorable day on Dec 12th 2023. I'm sure there's still a phone video of my "performance" somewhere. If there's interest, I'll look for it.
